Research Technologist 2
Target hiring range: $19.89–24.86 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data.
About the role
The Melo-Cardenas Lab is a new research laboratory seeking a motivated Research Technologist 2 with a bachelor’s degree in biology or another relevant scientific area. You’ll work with genetically engineered mouse models, human samples, and cutting-edge technology to uncover how inflammation drives myeloid blood cancers. Gain hands-on experience with advanced techniques like flow cytometry, cell sorting, and genomics while growing your career.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain stock solutions.
- Order and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Maintain overall laboratory order, regulatory compliance, and inventory.
- Perform basic molecular biology techniques, including plasmid preparation, viral production and transduction, isolation of RNA and DNA, western blot, immunoprecipitation, PCR, qPCR, and flow cytometry.
- Manage mouse colonies, including breeding, genotyping, and isolation and characterization of hematopoietic cells.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the laboratory.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related field; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Skills
- Demonstrated laboratory experience.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols.
- Demonstrated computer skills, including spreadsheets and basic computations.
- Attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Manual dexterity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous lab experience.
- Wet bench and animal work experience.
