About the role
The Office of Institutional Research and Analytics conducts institutional research and partners with the campus community to support planning, accreditation, and evidence-based decision-making for student success. The main function of an Institutional Research Analyst I is to gather, maintain and analyze and summarize data under direct supervision.
Responsibilities
- Conduct data mining, reporting, analyses, and writing summaries in support of planning, enrollment management, policy formation, decision-making, and accreditation.
- Report for internal and external surveys, local, state and federal reporting and information requests.
- Generate statistics for external surveys and respond to ad hoc information requests.
- Perform data entry to update existing reports and/or develop new reports provided through the Office of Institutional Research.
- Extract, collect and prepare data, materials, and reports for institutional self-study, program review, departmental self-study, and other data requests, especially in support of institutional evaluation; analyze and summarize institutional data using a variety of data sources and tools.
- Stay up to date on data software and reporting techniques.
- Perform other assignments and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of data collection tools, higher education reporting conventions, and institutional research principles.
- Skill in following guidelines and providing input and feedback.
- Organizational and time management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
- Demonstrated communications and interpersonal skills to effectively present information in a diverse environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.
- Ability to be accurate and pay attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Analytical skills to collect, analyze, and summarize institutional data and metrics.
- Computer skills to appropriately use institutional research technology and relevant software packages as required.
- General skill in using statistical software and data visualization tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with SQL or experience working with structured query languages to support data extraction and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field with demonstrated coursework or experience in research methods and data analysis.
- Experience designing and performing data visualizations and using data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
- Experience mining, screening, manipulating, and curating data for the purpose of generating reports and summaries.
