Job Duties
- Conducts research experiments including: mouse metabolism analyses, weekly cage changes and room management, daily rodent health checks and molecular analysis of plasma samples.
- Maintains lab stocks as well as help with lab maintenance.
- Collates, analyzes, and documents data.
- Documents results of experiments.
- Interacts with Core users providing expertise and service.
- Applies routine research techniques.
- Core space management, organizing freezer space, and maintaining lab equipment.
- Mouse handling and mouse work.
- Follows IACUC guidelines.
- Performs basic analytical assays including ELISA, RIA, calorimetric assays.
- Tail vein injection.
- Mice blood collection and plasma separation.
- Mice tissue collection.
- Aids Core director during mouse surgery and post-surgery monitoring.
- Assists with sterilization.
- Performs routine laboratory tests under close supervision.
- Keeps a detailed laboratory workbook and records daily work.
Requirements
- Highly motivated, well organized, technically capable, and ready to learn new techniques.
- Excellent communication and multitasking abilities.
Skills
- Strong interest in work with mouse colonies, mouse handling, and biochemistry.
- Highly motivated to work in laboratory setup.
- Basic knowledge in Microsoft Excel and data input.
- Well organized and technically capable of learning new techniques.
