Research Technician III - Mouse Research

Job Duties

• Conducts research experiments including: mouse metabolism analyses, weekly cage changes and room management, daily rodent health checks and molecular analysis of plasma samples.
• Maintains lab stocks as well as help with lab maintenance.
• Collates, analyzes, and documents data.
• Documents results of experiments.
• Interacts with Core users providing expertise and service.
• Applies routine research techniques.
• Core space management, organizing freezer space, and maintaining lab equipment.
• Mouse handling and mouse work.
• Follows IACUC guidelines.
• Performs basic analytical assays including ELISA, RIA, calorimetric assays.
• Tail vein injection.
• Mice blood collection and plasma separation.
• Mice tissue collection.
• Aids Core director during mouse surgery and post-surgery monitoring.
• Assists with sterilization.
• Performs routine laboratory tests under close supervision.
• Keeps a detailed laboratory workbook and records daily work.

Requirements

• Highly motivated, well organized, technically capable, and ready to learn new techniques.
• Excellent communication and multitasking abilities.

Skills

• Strong interest in work with mouse colonies, mouse handling, and biochemistry.
• Highly motivated to work in laboratory setup.
• Basic knowledge in Microsoft Excel and data input.
• Well organized and technically capable of learning new techniques.
