Research Technician II - Department of Surgery (UPDATED)

About the role

The Department of Surgery is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician II to support translational research focused on wound healing, fibrosis, regenerative medicine, and advanced therapeutics within the Gurtner Lab. This position independently performs a wide range of laboratory techniques, assists with preclinical animal studies, maintains laboratory operations, and supports data collection and analysis across multiple federally funded research projects. The Research Technician II will work closely with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, students, and collaborators while contributing to high-quality research, regulatory compliance, and laboratory organization.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs a wide range of laboratory techniques
• Assists with preclinical animal studies
• Maintains laboratory operations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (preferred)
• At least 2 years of related laboratory experience
• Experience with laboratory techniques and animal care
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Strong background in biology, biochemistry, or related field
• Experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, Western blotting, and ELISA
• Experience with animal models and handling
• Good understanding of laboratory safety protocols
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
