About the Role

This Research Technician II role supports scientific research by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, compiling and verifying research data, and preparing charts, graphs, and summaries. The position is 100% onsite at the Seattle South Lake Union campus and works with members of the laboratory of Dr. Taran Gujral in the Division of Human Biology. This role provides an opportunity to learn about cell biology and the drug discovery process, present research at lab meetings and conferences, and contribute to scientific publications.

Responsibilities

• Culture and maintain a collection of cancer cell lines.
• Prepare samples and carry out biochemical and PCR-based assays.
• Perform drug efficacy studies in mice.
• Prepare tissue sections for histology work.
• Analyze data from assays using various software packages.
• Work both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biological science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework (or equivalent combination of advanced degree and work experience).
• Prior experience with small animal handling is required.
• Must show initiative, willingness to learn new skills, and be a team player.
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to work independently, strong communication, responsiveness to feedback, and organizational skills.
• Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed to complete time-sensitive experiments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related scientific field.
• Experience working with cancer mouse models.
• Experience with tissue culture and standard molecular biological techniques (DNA and RNA extraction), protein isolation and analysis (gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, etc.), and microbiology techniques.

Pay

The hourly pay range for this position is from $27.01 to $38.45, based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
