About the role

The Kim Laboratory in the Taylor Family Department of Neurosurgery at WashU Medicine has an opening for a motivated Research Technician. Glioblastoma is the most common malignant primary brain tumor in adults. Despite aggressive surgical resection, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, this disease remains challenging with no cure. The lab is interested in the molecular mechanisms that control key features of glioblastoma biology. The long-term goal of the laboratory is to leverage these insights for the rational design of novel strategies against this formidable disease.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
  • Affords assistance with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Education

  • Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
