About the role

The Department of Neurosurgery is seeking highly motivated individuals with a background in veterinary technology, veterinary surgical nursing and/or animal models to join the Canon Stroke and Vascular Research Center (CSVRC) team at UB. We are a multidisciplinary group seeking individuals to join our team who are excited to learn new things and are dedicated to the animals and project goals.

The successful applicants are expected to assist with the planning and implementation of current and new animal models by: providing surgical assistance, performing procedures, assisting with lab maintenance duties, supporting in vivo studies in a strongly collaborative environment.

In our lab, staff and faculty work closely with physicians to focus on improving imaging, treatment and detection of vascular diseases such as stroke and brain aneurysms by conducting translational studies, often in collaboration with industry partners.

Solid organizational skills are a must.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in a related field
  • Current Veterinary Technician license or equivalent experience
  • At least one year of experience in a veterinary or laboratory setting
  • Accuracy in medical records
  • Experience in anesthesia of large animals and assisting in/performing surgery
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data organization experience in MS Excel
  • Interest in contributing to publications
