Department: SOM KC Department of Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Immunology – Bose Lab

About the Role

The Bose lab seeks a Research Technician to conduct research on human bacterial pathogens under the direct supervision of the PI and other research staff.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical, and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.
  • Manage lab inventory including ordering and restocking of supplies as well as maintaining other laboratory records.
  • Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook, documenting all calculations, work, experiments, and other pertinent research information.
  • Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories across the US.
  • Generate data and document research performed for the preparation of published papers, as well as assist on grant submissions and other documentation necessary for laboratory compliance.
  • Participate in regular communication with the PI and lab members via lab meetings to discuss experimental design and interpretation of results.
  • Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the department.
  • Understand and follow IACUC and biosafety protocols.
  • Attend departmental seminars and regular lab meetings.

Requirements

  • 4 years of research experience with bacteria (education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience with PCR, Western blot, aseptic technique, dilution plating, and other microbiological methods (preferred).
  • Analytical and interpersonal skills.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $21.06 - $27.40 per hour, with a starting pay range estimated at the minimum to midpoint ($21.06 - $24.23) based on education, experience, training, qualifications, and funding.
