About the Role
The Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences (DDBS) at the College of Pharmacy, University of South Carolina (USC), is seeking to hire a Research Technician to conduct research in Dr. Jun Zhu's laboratory on ongoing NIH-funded research projects to study the underlying mechanisms of HIV-1 infection associated neurocognitive disorders.
Responsibilities
- Perform research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
- Conduct cell culture and pharmacological assays to characterize the in vitro pharmacological profile of human vesicular monoamine transporter (VMAT2) and its mutants
- Test compounds to identify optimized probe molecules using cell-based expression of human VMAT2
- Assist with other ongoing experiments
- Maintain instruments, lab safety, and lab cleaning/organizing
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biomedical science or related field
- Prior experience working in a research laboratory is preferred
Pay
$15.00 per hour
Schedule
Standard working schedule: 8:30am – 5:00pm. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department. Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
