Research Specialist / Sr Scientist, Assay Sciences, Discovery Pharmacology

Responsibilities

  • Making, running, and optimizing a ton of analytical and bioassays (cell-based, biochemical, complex in vitro).
  • Turning manual assays into super-efficient, automated processes.
  • Nailing the stats (Z’-factor!) and ensuring scalability.
  • Creating new assays from scratch.
  • Documenting experiments in an electronic lab notebook (ELN).
  • Managing external research partners (CROs).
  • Working with other teams, including Discovery Sciences and Institute of Computation and Product Development.
  • Being a technical lead for the assay sciences team.

Requirements

  • Research Specialist: Bachelors or Masters degree and 8+ years of industry experience.
  • Sr Scientist: PhD and 6+ years post-PhD, PLUS 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with cutting-edge assay tech like MSD, HTRF, AlphaLISA, etc.
  • Expertise with lab automation gear (Bravo, Echo, I.DOT, Digital Dispenser, etc.)
  • High-level experience with high-content imaging in high-throughput (96- and 384-well) formats.
  • Productive and reliable, able to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent documentation skills in an electronic lab notebook.
  • Proven experience managing external CROs.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Technical SME with demonstrated expertise in a specialized research area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field.
  • PhD in a relevant field, plus 6+ years post-PhD experience.
  • Industry experience of 8+ years for Research Specialist, and 3+ years for Sr Scientist.
  • Experience with advanced assay technologies such as MSD, HTRF, AlphaLISA, etc.
  • Experience with lab automation equipment like Bravo, Echo, I.DOT, Digital Dispenser, etc.
  • Experience with high-content imaging in high-throughput formats.
  • Ability to document experiments thoroughly in an electronic lab notebook.
  • Experience managing external research partners (CROs).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Technical expertise in a specialized research area with broad knowledge.
