About the role

The Dr. Paul de Figueiredo’s lab in the Bond Life Sciences Center is seeking a Research Specialist to contribute to lab management tasks and research.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine lab management tasks, such as ordering laboratory supplies, maintaining laboratory inventory, managing mouse colony, performing genotyping, assisting with animal experiments, and conducting immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining and microscopy.

Additional Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Adhere to protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Pay meticulous attention to detail and maintain accurate records and manage data effectively.
  • Keep detailed and organized laboratory notebooks.
  • Collaborate with other lab members and provide assistance and training as needed.
  • Prepare reagents for experiments and perform molecular biology techniques, including DNA extraction, PCR, RT-PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
  • Cultivate and maintain bacterial cultures.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Attention to detail and precision.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and safety protocols.

Pay

Salary Range: $17.40 - $30.30 per hour
