About the role
The Research Specialist D position is for a Senior Research Specialist who will work with an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the School of Medicine. The laboratory focuses on the immune system, emerging infectious diseases, and rare rheumatic diseases, with a particular emphasis on understanding how interferons regulate immune responses.
Responsibilities
- Isolation of infected tissues from mice, genotyping of mice, and performing mutagenesis, quantitative PCR, and transient transfection assays.
- Cloning and molecular biology techniques.
- Isolation and culture of primary cells, preparation of virus stocks, virus infections of primary cells and mice.
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Preparing reagents, maintaining records, and general lab duties.
- Perform Additional Laboratory Management And Other Duties As Assigned
Qualifications
- A Master of Science degree and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior senior research specialist experience and/or laboratory management experience, as well as experience working with laboratory research animals.
