Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manages billing software and processes all invoices for pathology services.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences.
  • Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders.
  • Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results.
  • Performs literature reviews and writes reports.
  • Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers.
  • Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of research animal anatomy, animal facilities, and standards for quality research animal care.
  • Candidates for this position should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to function competently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of research animal colony health surveillance, necropsy, basic histology and pathology, general biosafety and chemical safety practices.

Department

The Pathology Lab Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the RARC Comparative Pathology Laboratory. This includes necropsies, billing, ordering, supplies, submitting samples for external lab analysis, managing the biosafety and IACUC Protocols, annual lab safety training, equipment maintenance, managing inventory, and managing student assistants.

The Lab Coordinator also will assist and perform necropsies and train students to perform Pathology Laboratory work.

Compensation

The expected minimum starting salary for this position is $60,000.00 annually. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
