About the role
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) seeks to fill two Research Specialist II positions in the Occupational Employment and Wage Survey (OEWS) unit of the Labor Market Information (LMI) Department, located in Austin, at 101 E. 15th Street, in Austin, TX.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes research data sets using statistical methods and relational databases.
- Analyzes research data sets and writes or edits technical reports and summaries of findings.
- Affords assistance in continuous process improvement and optimization.
- Affords assistance in formulating, planning, developing, coordinating, and administering research projects.
- Affords assistance in designing and creating computer programs for research applications.
- Performs related duties as needed.
Requirements
- One year of full-time experience in research and/or planning.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of LMI and BLS programs, products, and services.
- Skill in/knowledge of advanced Excel functionality and Python, R, or SQL.
- Skill in/knowledge of creating data visualizations.
- Able to prioritize workload and manage time effectively.
- Able to multi-task, have attention to detail, and have a high degree of accuracy.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with an emphasis on excellence and continuous improvement.
- Bilingual (Spanish).
