Research Specialist A (Department of Microbiology)
About the role
The Bushman lab is seeking multiple candidates for various projects. The first project involves using next generation sequencing to determine the location of new DNA inserted into host genomes, often in the context of human gene therapy. The second project uses deep sequencing, bioinformatics and other tools to uncover viral communities in diverse body sites. Both projects require expertise in nucleic acid manipulation.
Responsibilities
- DNA purification, quantification and amplification
- Lab maintenance
- Bioinformatic analysis
- DNA library preparation and sequencing
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Present at lab meeting and journal club, manuscript preparation
Qualifications
- Energetic, self-motivated, reliable, and responsible
- Experience with DNA manipulation is required and expertise in bioinformatic analysis is preferred
- Candidate must be detail oriented and focused in the lab
- Good organization, communication, and writing skills are required
Pay
$44,500.00 - $50,000.00 Annual Rate

Position contingent upon funding.
