About the role
The Research Senior Technician participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in Dr. Liping Yang’s group at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Ohio State University.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements goals and objectives of studies
- Designs and executes complex laboratory experiments
- Performs advanced molecular and cellular experiments (spectral flow cytometry, single-cell proteomics/genomics, CRISPR, highly multiplexed tissue imaging, spatial transcriptomics, etc.)
- Takes care of mice, performs animal studies, handles weaning, genotyping, and breeding, collect mouse tissues and isolate mouse primary cells
- Collects, analyzes and interprets research data
- Aids in the development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques
- Tests experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization
- Aids in the establishment of controls, criteria and research standards
- Performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken
- Aids in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents
- Aids the principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research
- Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
- Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
- Aids in the training of junior research staff, undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
- Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
- Maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
- Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree
- Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required
