Research Senior Associate & Medical Lab Science Course Support Health and Rehab Sciences

Position Summary

This role participates in the planning and execution of research projects investigating immunology across the lifespan in people with and without HIV. Responsibilities include designing and performing complex laboratory experiments; conducting advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques such as cell isolation and culture, bacterial and viral culture, flow cytometry, real-time qPCR, human subject recruitment, and blood draws; collecting, analyzing and interpreting research data; developing and refining research methodologies; evaluating experimental designs and analytical methods; establishing research controls and standards; performing literature analysis; and coordinating laboratory activities for graduate students, undergraduate students, and research staff.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and performing complex laboratory experiments
  • Conducting advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques
  • Collecting, analyzing and interpreting research data
  • Evaluating experimental designs and analytical methods
  • Establishing research controls and standards
  • Performing literature analysis
  • Coordinating laboratory activities for graduate students, undergraduate students, and research staff
  • Providing instructional support for MLS Division laboratory courses
  • Providing research progress updates to the principal investigator
  • Coordinating equipment maintenance and testing
  • Oversight of safety audits
  • Completing assigned tasks
  • Assisting with preparing manuscripts and presentations for publication and conferences
  • Contributing to project reports and related documents
  • Supporting the preparation of extramural funding proposals

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required; 3 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 1 year of relevant experience required with Master's Degree.
  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science and active ASCP or equivalent certification in medical laboratory science. Experience in a biological/health science research environment is desired.
