Research Scientist, Private Brands Intelligence - SCIT Science
About the role
The Private Brands team is seeking a Research Scientist to contribute to the development of science solutions at scale within Amazon's retail business. This role involves applying Optimization, Machine Learning, Statistics, Causal Inference, and Econometrics/Economics to derive actionable insights and develop statistical models and algorithms for strategic business decisions and operational improvements.
Responsibilities
- Work with business leaders, scientists, and economists to translate business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables, including the design, development, testing, and deployment of highly scalable optimization solutions and ML models.
- Bring business and industry context to science and technology decisions, setting the standard for scientific excellence and making impactful decisions.
- Tackle intrinsically hard problems, acquiring expertise as needed, and decomposing complex issues into straightforward solutions.
- Experience in Operations Research, predictive modeling, and working with distributed systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of R, Python, or similar scripting languages, experience with agile development, and familiarity with machine learning, statistics, and deep learning are beneficial.
- Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI can enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree with 4+ years of quantitative field research experience.
- Experience investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products.
- Knowledge of R, MATLAB, Python, or similar scripting languages.
- Experience with agile development.
- Experience in machine learning, statistics, and deep learning.
- Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences.

Pay
Base salary range: $136,000.00 - $184,000.00 USD annually
