Research Scientist I - Physical Therapy and Rehab Science

Essential Job Functions

• Serves as a shared engineering resource within the School of Health Professions.
• Supports instrumented laboratory environment, including hardware and software engineering for specialized measurement equipment.
• Data analysis pipeline development, including AI/ML applications.
• Device configuration and troubleshooting.
• Systems documentation.
• Supports wearable sensor platforms, ambient monitoring devices, AI companion platforms, and planned Epic EHR integration for the Age-Tech program.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering (electrical, biomedical, mechanical, computer, or related field).
• Experience with instrumentation, embedded systems, or research-grade hardware.
• Proficiency in software development and data analysis pipelines.
• Able to support laboratory operations across multiple active research programs.

Prior Experience

• PhD in engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Experience with AI/ML applications in a research context (preferred).
• Familiarity with wearable sensors, remote monitoring devices, or clinical research technology platforms (preferred).
• Prior work in an academic or clinical research environment supporting externally funded programs (preferred).

Salary

Commensurate with experience.
