SRI International’s Microcircuit Emulation Center (formerly Sarnoff Corporation) is seeking a Research Scientist specializing in electron beam lithography to advance the development of microcircuit (integrated circuit) manufacturing. Through SRI's Generalized Emulation of Microcircuits (GEM) and Advanced Microcircuit Emulation (AME) programs, the Center provides form, fit, function, and interface replacements for obsolete microcircuits, supporting production, redesign, and sustainment for weapon systems throughout their lifecycle. The Microcircuit Emulation Center operates as a government-supported, U.S.-based Trusted Foundry.

About the role

This position is based onsite at our Princeton, NJ office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electron-beam lithography processes (wafer coat, exposure, and development) to support full-wafer, low-volume fabrication for legacy microcircuits.
  • Sustain, improve, and optimize electron-beam lithography processing to increase throughput for legacy microcircuits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Integration, Design, and Layout) to develop processes and integrate them into current production wafer processing capabilities.
  • Collect, correlate, interpret, and present data to management and colleagues.
  • Troubleshoot problems and document solutions.

Requirements

  • B.S. in chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency due to government requirements.
  • Experience with electron-beam lithography theory, data preparation, and process development.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor processing.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment up to 75% of the workday and perform flexible shift work as required.

Qualifications

  • Past use of JEOL electron beam systems and GenISys Beamer data preparation software is desired.
  • Demonstrated analytical and systematic teamwork approach to troubleshooting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including creating PowerPoint presentations and presenting analysis.
