About the role

The Microcircuit Emulation Center at SRI International (formerly Sarnoff Corporation) is looking for a Research Scientist in electron beam lithography to support the development of electron beam lithography for manufacturing of microcircuits (integrated circuits). Through SRI's Generalized Emulation of Microcircuits (GEM) and Advanced Microcircuit Emulation (AME) programs, the Microcircuit Emulation Center supplies form, fit, function, and interface replacements for obsolete microcircuits. This capability supports production, redesign, and sustainment requirements for the life of a weapon system. SRI's Microcircuit Emulation Center is a government-supported, U.S.-based Trusted foundry. This role is onsite at our Princeton, NJ office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an interest in integrated circuit manufacturing and how electron-beam lithography can support the manufacturing process.
  • Perform E-beam development to complement the existing MEC microcircuit manufacturing processing capabilities.
  • Develop electron-beam lithography processes (wafer coat, exposure and development) to support full-wafer, low-volume, wafer fabrication for legacy microcircuits.
  • Sustain, improve, and optimize electron-beam lithography processing to increase throughput for legacy microcircuits.
  • Work with cross functional teams (Engineering, Integration, Design and Layout) to develop processes and integrate into the current production wafer processing capabilities.
  • Collect, correlate, interpret, and present data to management and co-workers.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, or an equivalent field required.
  • Due to Government requirements, candidates must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Experience with electron-beam lithography theory, data preparation and process development required.
  • Past use of JEOL electron beam systems and GenISys Beamer data preparation software is desired.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and to document solutions.
  • Demonstrated analytical and systematic teamwork approach to troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to work in a clean room environment up to 75% of the workday and perform flexible shift work when required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to describe ongoing work and discuss issues including creating PowerPoints and presenting analysis.
  • Ability to work on site Monday - Friday, starting at 8:30am, with an 8-hour workday.

Pay

The salary range is: $63,873–$84,636. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
