About the role

The Betegon Lab at the University of Pittsburgh Ophthalmology Department seeks a Research Scientist to develop novel AAV technologies for safe and efficient gene therapies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and evaluation of novel AAV technologies under the supervision of the PI.
• Present research findings at meetings.
• Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts.
• Train students in the lab.

Requirements

• PhD in biophysics, biochemistry, biology, structural biology, or related field.
• Demonstrated and extensive experience with protein expression in bacterial or mammalian cells and FPLC protein purification.
• Experience with protein assays and basic molecular biology techniques including molecular cloning.
• No prior experience working with AAV is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education Level Required: Professional Doctorate Degree.
• Minimum Years of Experience Required: 5 years.
• No substitution in lieu of education or experience.

Skills

• Strong scientific research skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage laboratory policies and coordinate project development.
