About the role
The Betegon Lab at the University of Pittsburgh Ophthalmology Department seeks a Research Scientist to develop novel AAV technologies for safe and efficient gene therapies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and evaluation of novel AAV technologies under the supervision of the PI.
- Present research findings at meetings.
- Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts.
- Train students in the lab.
Requirements
- PhD in biophysics, biochemistry, biology, structural biology, or related field.
- Demonstrated and extensive experience with protein expression in bacterial or mammalian cells and FPLC protein purification.
- Experience with protein assays and basic molecular biology techniques including molecular cloning.
- No prior experience working with AAV is required.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education Level Required: Professional Doctorate Degree.
- Minimum Years of Experience Required: 5 years.
- No substitution in lieu of education or experience.
Skills
- Strong scientific research skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage laboratory policies and coordinate project development.
