Research Scientist
Position Summary
This position supports research, development, and commercialization of new product ideas within Oil-Dri’s R&D team. The role focuses on evaluating new concepts, advancing innovation projects, and supporting product development from early research through practical application. The position works closely with R&D leadership and cross-functional teams to translate technical concepts into actionable solutions that support business growth.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research and development on innovation-focused projects
- Support execution of growth and innovation strategies aligned with business goals
- Contribute to product development efforts, including new and existing products
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate new ideas and technologies
- Interpret data and recommend next steps for project progression
- Provide solutions to complex problems requiring creativity and new approaches
- Identify new ideas with potential commercial value
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support innovation portfolio development
- Stay current on emerging technologies and trends relevant to the business
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 3–7 years of experience in research, development, or technical roles
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work through complex, undefined challenges
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting new product development or commercialization
- Exposure to manufacturing or industrial environments
- Experience applying technical research to business or market opportunities
- Familiarity with emerging technologies, including AI, and their application in research or product development
Compensation and Benefits
