Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Research Design

    Lead the design, analysis, and reporting of mixed-methods and quantitative studies. Participate in Duke CTSI translational research and analytics projects. Develop an independent, extramurally funded research agenda aligned with community-engaged translational population health.

  • Data Collection/Analysis

    Carry out community health assessments, needs assessments, and evaluation studies. Utilize analytic tools (R, SAS, SPSS, NVivo, REDCap, Tableau, GIS) to derive insights from population health and community datasets. Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of community-based programs.

  • Communication and Teamwork

    Create dashboards, data briefs, reports, and visualizations for community partners and internal stakeholders. Convert analytical findings into actionable recommendations for both community and clinical partners. Publish peer-reviewed articles and share research outcomes at national forums. Mentor students, trainees, and community investigators. Assist in NCCU's contributions to the Duke CTSI partnership, including workforce development initiatives and collaborative pilot projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in community-engaged or participatory research.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working with rural or underserved communities.

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Doctorate (PhD, DrPH, ScD, or equivalent) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Behavioral/Social Sciences, Community Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
