Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI) is a dedicated research facility of the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) located on the grounds of Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, NY. NKI is affiliated with the New York University Langone Medical Center (NYULMC), located in midtown Manhattan.

For the development of the NKI 9.4T human neuroimager, we are seeking a highly skilled MR Simulations Expert to develop, validate, and support advanced Magnetic Resonance (MR) simulation environments focused on MR ultra-high-field (UHF) safety, RF field propagation and losses, patient risk modeling, and operational training systems. The ideal candidate combines expertise in computational modeling, safety engineering, and simulation platform development to support clinical, research, and training initiatives. This role will contribute to the design of realistic MRI safety simulations, digital twins, RF exposure models, and workflow training systems for clinical and research environments operating at conventional and ultra-high magnetic field strengths.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and support advanced MR simulation environments focused on UHF safety, RF field propagation and losses, patient risk modeling, and operational training systems.
  • Contribute to the design of realistic MRI safety simulations, digital twins, RF exposure models, and workflow training systems for clinical and research environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum Non-Competitive: bachelor’s degree and five years of professional research experience in an appropriate field.
  • Substitutions: master’s degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience, and Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
