About the role

The Chicago Center of HIV Elimination, embedded within the University of Chicago's main campus in Hyde Park, is located in Chicago's HIV epicenter. It serves 13 of the city's 20 neighborhoods with high annual HIV diagnosis rates, including four of the six communities with the highest rates.

This position within the hardest-hit neighborhoods in Chicago provides unique opportunities to advance HIV testing and prevention interventions locally, aiming to eliminate new HIV transmission events by 2041.

The Research Project Manager works closely with a physician-led team on grants focused on HIV prevention and care continuum outcomes. They assist in drafting presentations and writing articles, reports, and manuscripts. The role involves managing other staff including medical students and undergraduate research assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Supports a portfolio of projects, including rigorous social science evaluations and technical assistance data analysis.
  • Recruits subjects, designs surveys, and conducts individual and focus group interviews.
  • Coordinates research activities, manages project deliverables, and prepares grant proposals.
  • Writes human subjects permission protocols and amendments for IRB approval.
  • Documents discussions and research activities with detailed notes and project logs.
  • Prepares sections of research results, including proofing, formatting, and creating tables and graphs.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens.
  • Conducts thorough and critical literature reviews.
  • Assists with data collection, management, randomization, and analysis.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field and 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree in public health, health administration, or other health-related field, and experience in conducting clinical research studies and managing Institutional Review Board processes.
