Research Program Manager (Finance)

About the role
The Research Program Manager leads and oversees research programs, initiatives, and projects to support institutional research objectives. This role collaborates with research teams, stakeholders, and partners to define program scope, manage resources, monitor progress, and ensure successful implementation and outcomes. The position also contributes to performance evaluations, feedback, and compensation decisions.
Responsibilities
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful implementation and compliance with funding requirements in the administration of research programs.
- Establish relationships with external stakeholders and funding agencies by communicating program objectives and progress to ensure alignment and support for research initiatives.
- Facilitate research activities by organizing meetings and discussions among researchers and collaborators to foster effective communication and collaboration.
- Track program performance by monitoring key performance indicators and preparing regular reports that summarize progress, challenges, and outcomes for senior management.
- Provide support to researchers in the preparation of grant proposals by offering guidance on compliance and aligning proposals with institutional priorities and funding opportunities.
- Conduct regular assessments of program effectiveness by analyzing data and feedback from participants to recommend improvements and enhance program impact.
- Stay informed about trends and developments in the research field by attending conferences and participating in professional organizations to enhance program relevance and effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations by reviewing research protocols and documentation to maintain ethical standards and proper record-keeping.
- Assist in the development of training materials for researchers by creating resources that promote best practices and enhance the overall quality of research conducted within the program.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Pre-Award Support: Preparing proposal budgets, budget narratives, and collecting financial documents required by sponsors (federal, academia, and industry) for proposal submissions; developing timelines for submissions; coordinating with faculty, the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), subawardees, and co-PIs to collect required materials; familiarity with eRouting.
- Award & Subaward Administration: Working with OSP to set up awards and subawards; familiarity with CIS, Workday, LITE, and Tableau reports.
- Post-Award Management: Managing multiple faculty finance portfolios; ensuring compliance with sponsor terms and Georgia Tech policy while approving financial transactions in Workday; managing purchasing, expense reports, reporting, and sponsor-required documentation; monitoring spending and providing financial feedback to faculty; preparing JEs, accounting adjustments, budget amendments, etc., in Workday; conducting financial projections and analysis to ensure clean closeouts.

Pay
Job Grade: R07
Recruiting Range: $72,039 – $75,641
Must be a U.S. citizen. Successful candidate must pass a background check.
