About the role
The RESEARCH PROGRAM MANAGER with Penn Dental Medicine's Center for Clinical & Translational Research directly supervises and manages laboratory staff and activities, ensuring and maintaining training records and activities, as well as providing support for quality control and assurance processes.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervising laboratory personnel and laboratory activities; including: hiring/recruitment/onboarding, annual performance management, managing schedules/time off requests, maintaining employee records (specifically regarding mandatory clinic practice and research-related initiatives) and overseeing project assignment and monitoring staff capacity.
- Training CCTR personnel and students on laboratory research topics and maintaining appropriate records of all training activities.
- Supporting quality control and quality assurance processes related to the study; implementing study quality assurance and quality management plans; reviewing study records, including study charts, case report forms, informed consent forms, and other essential documents, for accuracy and completeness; identifying and seeking appropriate correction of any errors or omissions within the study records; drafting reports of quality assurance activities and providing such reports to the appropriate parties; assisting in the development and implementation of corrective action plans as necessary.
- Train research coordinators and dental professionals on infection control including room set-up, break-down, and sterilization of medical/dental instruments.
- Provide support to pre- and post-award administrative process working closely with PDM grants management office (GMO).
- Tasks include, but not limited to: communicating and serving as point of contact with collaborators, reviewing accuracy with letters of recommendation, reviewing bios for consistency, organizing lists and documentation and reviewing overall grant submission for completeness, entering data in the system if needed.
- Within clinical research activities ongoing at the center, he/she may help supervising research activities such as subject enrollment, data collection, quality control, storage and management.
- Maintains financial/research databases for efficient information management and reporting.
- Participates in research team meetings, coordinate meetings and calls with sponsors and stakeholders and participates in reporting and dissemination activities related to research operations, regulatory matters and overall relationship with clients, investigators, students and broad research community and collaborators.
- Provides administrative oversight in coordinating reporting and dissemination activities related to research findings; including, but not limited to: developing a library of compiled research documentation; reviewing journal requirements submitting manuscripts to journal; drafting social media posts and ads from protocols and research papers for publication and dissemination.
- Aids in manuscript preparation and dissemination of results.
- Coordinates special research projects and meetings as needed.
- Research duties may include participation in study activation activities, resource management, support with recruitment of research participants, telephone screening for study eligibility, communicating with PIs, study coordinators and study team on research activity matters, coordinate group meetings, and coordinating and conducting community outreach activities.
- Reviews research databases and reports ensuring data completeness, maintains research files, data collection and data entry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, public health, etc.)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a research or laboratory setting, preferably in a clinical or translational research context.
- Experience in laboratory management, training, and quality control.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of research ethics and compliance standards.
- Experience with research databases and statistical software.

Pay
$57,500.00 - $65,000.00 Annual Rate
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
