About the role
The Weiss Lab at The University of Georgia’s Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (www.ccrc.uga.edu) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Professional to join our laboratory and contribute to drug discovery studies in models of neurodegenerative disorders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, execution, and troubleshooting of experiments, focusing on glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis and related research objectives.
- Integrate new methodologies into the lab and mentor junior researchers in experimental techniques.
- Analyze and interpret data for high-impact deliverables, including publications, conference presentations, and grant submissions.
- Oversee the lab during PI absences, coordinating projects and ensuring research progress.
- Maintain lab safety compliance, organize spaces for efficiency, and manage data for adherence to FAIR principles.
- Serve as the point of contact for administrative and infrastructure needs.
Requirements
- Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.
- Candidates should hold a B.S. or Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related discipline.
- Extensive hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and biochemical assay development, preferably in the context of drug discovery or neurodegenerative research.
- Strong communication and organizational skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
- Able to work in a collaborative scientific environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.
- Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should hold a B.S. or Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related discipline.

Schedule
Normal days and hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm but hours and days could vary based on research.
