About the role
This position focuses on muscle biology, aging, and estrogen biology within an academic research lab.
Responsibilities
- 50% — Experimental Design & Research Execution: Design and conduct experiments aligned with ongoing lab projects. Lead individual research experiments and studies while collaborating on team-based projects.
- 20% — Lab Direction & Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to lab personnel by instructing on laboratory techniques, processes, and standard procedures.
- 10% — Literature Review & Scientific Strategy: Research and analyze relevant scientific literature; present findings and offer strategic recommendations to advance ongoing studies.
- 10% — Data Analysis & Interpretation: Analyze and interpret experimental data; consult with the Principal Investigator (PI) regarding analytical outcomes and their impact on current hypotheses or overall research objectives.
- 10% — Manuscript Preparation & Publishing: Contribute to the drafting and editing of manuscripts related to research studies.
Requirements
- PhD in a biological science or technology area
- At least 3 years of postdoctoral experience
- Proven record of publications in peer-reviewed journals

Preferred / Relevant Experience:
- Presenting research at scientific conferences
- Working with cell and tissue cultures
- Cell and molecular biology
- Hands-on laboratory techniques, including:
- CRISPR gene editing
- Immunocytochemistry
- Migration and chemotactic assays
- Microscopy

Family Medicine and Community Health
The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota was created more than 50 years ago in response to a legislative mandate to train primary care physicians. Since then, we have been leaders in transforming the specialty through education, research, and patient care. We are the academic sponsor of ten family medicine residencies—five in the Twin Cities, five in Greater Minnesota. We are involved in medical student education across the Medical School's three campuses: Twin Cities, Duluth, and Saint Cloud. We sponsor five fellowship programs—sports medicine, hospice and palliative medicine, behavioral medicine, clinical informatics, and human sexuality—and offer continuing medical education opportunities. Pay
Pay Range: $84,302 to $88,000 annually, depending on education, qualifications, and experience.
Time Appointment: 100% appointment.
