Research Pre-Award Analyst

About the role

The Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC) at UC Irvine is seeking a Research Administrator to support the development and submission of federal, state, and private contracts and grants. The incumbent will prepare draft and final budgets, budget justifications, and various proposal documents, perform data entry, and assist with proposal preparation and renewal.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit complex infrastructure, equipment, and training grants
• Support annual reporting and renewal proposal submissions
• Organize and lead regular proposal preparation meetings with faculty members
• Lead project management support for multi-investigator proposals
• Collate and archive proposal/award library and boilerplate/template documents
• Work with other units to facilitate content incorporation into proposals
• Support pre- and post-award management for clinical trial proposals and awards
• Provide support for department purchasing needs
• Expand role to provide post-award (fiscal officer role) support

Requirements

• Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors
• Comprehensive knowledge of compliance requirements related to use of human subjects
• Experience managing significant volume of transactions
• Competence in financial analysis and customized reporting
• Proficiency in spreadsheet and database software for financial analysis
• Independent judgment, strong organization, communication skills, and customer service focus
• Current knowledge of compliance regulations in research administration
• Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal, and reporting principles
• Effective grant funding processes, procedures, and techniques
• Strong writing skills in various styles

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field
• 3-5 years of relevant experience
