About the role
The Manager, Research Administration (Pre-Award)/ Administrative Services Administrator 2 position at Stanford Neurology leads and manages a team responsible for preparing complex, federal and non-federal sponsored research projects. This includes supervising staff, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with research guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Supervise other staff, delegate tasks and projects, and monitor work.
- Conduct performance appraisals; provide coaching, mentoring, and take disciplinary actions when required.
- Identify and collaborate to develop training tools and programs for staff.
- Manage and contribute to continuous process improvement and staff development.
- Resolve extremely complex issues escalated from team members and determine if further review is necessary by senior management or key university constituencies.
- Aid team in preparation of complex proposals within parameters of sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines.
- Oversee and review compliance with proposal guidelines, communicate proposal preparation and submittal process, and closeout.
- Serve as subject matter expert on pre and/or post-award research administration.
- Interpret complex regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
- Manage a portfolio of complex grants and contracts, provide short-term backup coverage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.
- Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.
- Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment and, decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and meet budget goals.
- Demonstrated solid planning and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Strong relevant subject matter knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.

Pay Range
$120,083 to $153,486 per annum.
