About the role

The Department of Periodontics at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Research faculty (Non-Tenure) position, with appointment beginning fall 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Research Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities

  • Drive pioneering research initiatives
  • Manage laboratory projects
  • Contribute to the academic mission of the Department and the College
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Secure external funding
  • Mentor graduate and resident students
  • Develop, lead, and execute independent and collaborative research projects
  • Apply for external research funding
  • Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals
  • Mentor graduate students, dental residents, and postdoctoral fellows
  • Oversight of daily laboratory operations, compliance, and data integrity
  • Contribute to the service activities of the Department

Requirements

  • PhD in Applied Chemistry
  • Hands-on experience in polymer materials design, synthesis, and characterization
  • Expertise in developing animal models for pulp/dentin and periodontal tissue regeneration
  • Proficiency in characterization techniques such as NMR, SEM, TEM, FTIR, DSC, AFM, GPC
  • Hands-on experience with cell culture and related technologies
