Meta is seeking a Research Scientist Manager with expertise in product-focused signal processing and sensor development to help us create novel wearable devices and algorithms that will become one of the main pillars for interaction with the virtual and augmented world. Help us unleash human potential by removing the bottlenecks between user intent and action.Our team uses machine learning and statistical signal processing tools to advance our pioneering work building a practical, non-invasive wearable device that draws on rich neuromotor signals. We are a multi-disciplinary group of researchers and engineers who work closely with partner hardware, algorithms, and user experience teams to model and understand real-world use cases, set requirements for hardware performance, and develop software strategies to improve signal quality and product performance. Research Manager Responsibilities: Lead a team of research scientists and research engineers to deliver high-quality products and solutionsManage career guidance for the team through regular feedback and tracking performanceCollaborate with cross functional teams including hardware, machine learning research and engineering teams to develop scalable systems to characterize sensor performance and their impact on product featuresDevelop scalable methodologies and tools to simulate biophysical signals and their approximationsExplore methods to improve ML models for product features by incorporating knowledge of sensor performance limitationsDevelop and implement engineering strategies to achieve product development targetsFoster a work environment of continuous learning, growth and improvement Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experiencePh.D. in machine learning, AI, computer science, electrical engineering, statistics, applied mathematics, data science, signal processing, optimization or related technical fields4+ years of experience in industry R&D in signal processing, sensor development, or related technical fieldsExperience defining research/technical direction for a team and to support the work of a small group of researchers towards those goals Preferred Qualifications: Experience with human-in-loop sensor/wearable biosensor development in consumer hardware space (e.g. biosensors or novel input devices such as electrocardiography (EKG/ECG), photoplethysmography (PPG), capacitive sensing, electromyography, etc)Demonstrated experience in managing technical teams including performance managementExperience collaborating with multiple interdisciplinary and/or cross functional teams About Meta: Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
