Research Laboratory Technician II - Bio-Medical Sciences Department

Responsibilities

• Routine animal care, including feeding schedules, system and alarm checks, basic health assessments, and water-quality monitoring.
• Day-to-day facility operations, such as routine system maintenance, communication with Animal Resource Facility and veterinary staff, supply ordering and inventory management, and assisting with troubleshooting.
• Caring for additional equipment within the Core and helping new users become familiar with facility procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field of science required.
• 2+ years of research lab experience.
• Experience with cell and molecular techniques including PCR, immunostaining, confocal microscopy.
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities in understanding research methods, laboratory techniques, and care of laboratory equipment; interpreting data, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

The role is vital to ensuring system health, animal welfare oversight, quarantine practices, and regulatory compliance. Comprehensive training will be provided, and immediate full coverage is not expected.
