Research Laboratory Technician I

About the role

We are seeking a dependable and motivated part-time staff member to manage the daily operations of the Zebrafish Core Facility at Creighton University. Under general supervision in the Coffin Lab, provides a wide variety of moderately complex laboratory testing and technical lab support for a research facility. We are looking for a detail-oriented, communicative individual who is enthusiastic about contributing to a high-quality aquatic research environment.

Responsibilities

• Routine animal care, including feeding schedules, system and alarm checks, basic health assessments, and water-quality monitoring.
• Day-to-day facility operations, including routine system maintenance, communication with Animal Resource Facility and veterinary staff, supply ordering and inventory management, and assisting with troubleshooting.
• Caring for additional equipment within the Core.
• Helping new users become familiar with facility procedures.
• Ensuring system health, animal welfare oversight, quarantine practices, and regulatory compliance
