About the role

The Michigan Center for Translational Pathology (MCTP) seeks a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic clinical research team. The laboratory utilizes advanced technologies to study cancer progression and develop new biomarkers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform molecular and cellular experiments on cancer mechanisms and therapy resistance.
  • Use CRISPR technologies to establish knockout and conditional knockout models.
  • Generate next-generation sequencing libraries and validate potential candidate genes.
  • Write internal research reports and participate in laboratory meetings.
  • Develop and carry out high-demand next-generation sequencing procedures.
  • Contribute to manuscript writing and data organization.
  • Support general lab management and ensure CLIA clinical test compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related biological science.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of hands-on experience in a molecular biology laboratory (post-undergraduate experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with quantitative PCR techniques, molecular cloning, and cell culture.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a related field.

Skills

  • Proven ability to master complex, multi-step protocols with high reproducibility and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong organizational skills and good record-keeping skills.
  • Interest in basic and applied cancer research.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in biological or health-related fields.
  • Experience in cell culture, CRISPR screens, Western blotting, and multiomic technologies.
  • Motivation to lead individual research projects.
