About the role

Our Research IT Department (RITD) seeks a highly motivated student intern for the Fall 2026 semester to join our IT Operations Team and assist with research projects at the Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS). Interns will manage helpdesk ticket systems, providing IT support to ELSYS employees and assisting with various projects. They will gain hands-on experience with virtualization, DevOps, Linux, scripting, and server infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Security Assurance, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, or a similar field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be registered for full-time internship credit
  • Interest in learning IT operations (system administration/deployment, networking, software troubleshooting, and security)
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems, various types of computer hardware, and networking
  • A passion for technology and a desire to grow as an IT professional

Preferred Qualifications

  • Task/team leadership experience
  • Clear communication of technical ideas
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems

Hours per Week

40 hours per week

Citizenship Requirements

Due to research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates must be U.S. citizens. Clearance type required: Active security clearance.
