Job Summary

The postdoctoral fellows will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and clinicians. Responsibilities include participating in all aspects of data acquisition and management; developing, modifying, and executing analytical protocols; preparing publications and scientific presentations; disseminating results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and at major national and international meetings, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Specifically working on novel time domain (fluorescence lifetime-based) optical imaging technologies for clinical and preclinical applications in cancer, neuropathology, and cardiac disease
  • Proficiency and career goals can focus on a combination of the following areas: development, maintenance and operation of optical imaging systems and image reconstruction algorithms, developing and designing animal and human protocols, performing preclinical imaging studies with simple animal procedures (surgery, anesthesia etc.), performing in vitro cell culture and ex vivo histology and microscopy studies, and conducting clinical studies for image guided surgery and diagnostics
  • PhD/MD in Biomedical Engineering or related fields (chemistry/physics/biology/biochemistry) preferred
  • Previous experience in one or more of the following areas would be a strong plus: experimental optics, imaging, computational physics programming experience in the C/C++/Matlab, animal models of disease, clinical and/or animal protocols, translational studies in humans, regulatory experience
  • A strong interest in applying their skills for advancing biomedical science and being capable of independent thinking
