About the role
The Optics and Photonics Research Group is seeking a PhD qualified Engineer to design and develop an innovative instrument for wound healing measurement. The successful candidate will work on the construction of optical fibre sensors, their characterisation, and the development of an opto-electronic measurement system.
Responsibilities
- Development of instrumentation
- Fibre optics sensors in the field of healthcare
- Knowledge of optical fibre physical sensors, optoelectronics, and systems designs
- Data capture, recording of data, and report writing to a professional standard
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Enthusiasm, motivation, and drive to embed new knowledge and take full ownership of the project
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Requirements
Candidates must hold a PhD in Electronic, Biomedical, or Optical Engineering.

Pay
The salary range for this position is £32,080 to £47,389 per annum, depending on skills and experience (minimum £35,608 with relevant PhD).
Schedule
Your working hours will be 36.25 hours per week.
