Job Summary

A postdoctoral research fellowship is available to study the mechanisms that drive cutaneous lupus and dermatomyositis.

Responsibilities

  • Design and trouble shoot experimental approaches with the help of the lab PI; eventual independence in these aspects would be expected
  • Conduct lab-based research on patient and control samples
  • Generate 3D models of human skin
  • Train undergraduate and graduate students and other relevant lab members in techniques and the scientific method
  • Prepare data reports for weekly meeting with PI and bi-monthly reports for weekly lab meeting
  • Attend relevant lectures and journal clubs
  • Assemble figures for and write manuscripts for publication

Required Qualifications

  • Successful candidates must hold a PhD in immunology or cellular biology
  • The applicant is expected to be well-versed in molecular biology and immunological techniques
  • Skills including flow cytometry, methods to study RNA signaling, molecular cloning, cell culture, RNA isolation, Western blotting, CRISPR editing, transfection, and advanced microscopy are expected
  • Familiarity with techniques such as RNA-sequencing, RNA silencing techniques, ELISA and protein analysis are also highly desired
  • Successful candidates should be able to develop methodologies for incorporation of new techniques into their work and assemble figures using Adobe Illustrator and draft manuscripts with editing assistance from the PI

Modes of Work
