Responsibilities
- Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
- Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, circuit-breaker panels, etc.
- Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.
- Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
- Operate facility overhead cranes, bucket trucks, man-lifts, forklifts, and portable cranes.
Qualifications
- Completion of a 4-year State approved apprenticeship program with a Journeyman Electricians certificate and 4 years of additional electrical industry work experience, or 8 years minimum of equivalent journeyman level electricians experience, with 2 years of related technical instruction training that is verifiable by training records or certificates.
- Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, or graduate from a Vocational Trade School program in Electrical Technology.
- Familiarity with electrical codes, and knowledge of the proper use of the NEC handbook, NFPA 70E, Electrical safety PPE, and OSHA standards.
- Familiarity with electrical systems, tools, equipment and instruments.
- Ability to read electrical blueprints, drawings, and layouts, and use computers.
- Good attention to detail and follow verbal and written instructions from engineering or supervision.
- Ability to use own judgment and decisions to allow continuity of work flow.
- Must be a US Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
