About the Role

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking an energetic and highly motivated Research Engineer 2 to join a team conducting research related to the development, dissemination, and evaluation of information technology and outcomes research in the health care field. The research team focuses on improving health care practice and outcomes through the use of informatics tools and data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-stack applications and analytics systems to meet the needs of clinical and data science researchers.
  • Work with researchers to implement analytics platforms and algorithms, create and administer informatics research databases, and develop web-based applications for research.
  • Design and improve Health Information Technology and data interoperability tools, and support existing applications.
  • Develop, deploy, support, and integrate resources and services to aid research under minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex and critical research engineering design functionality, including software releases and security for internally developed and supplied designs.
  • Collaborate with clinical research and data science teams to design testing schedules and materials, and coordinate with researchers and technical experts to balance research priorities.
  • Create and maintain data analysis and visualization tools using Microsoft Excel and other programming languages.
  • Develop and maintain relational databases, track performance metrics, and prepare detailed reports on trends using advanced data science techniques (e.g., time series regression analysis, longitudinal modeling, risk assessment).
  • Maintain compliance documentation for internal and federal quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and training records for clinical and informatics-related study processes, ensuring confidentiality and regulatory compliance for protected health information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in data management, data analysis, and data visualization.
  • Experience creating and maintaining data tools using Igor Pro and MySQL relational databases.
  • Experience with data analysis and quality/process improvement using JMP, Minitab, LabView, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with audit compliance and quality assurance.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and work efficiently in a team.
  • Adaptability, creativity, and a quick learning ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
