This hybrid opportunity offers the chance to shape research, publications, and web content that help inform broad audiences while collaborating with subject matter experts in a mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Edit and proofread a range of research-focused publications, periodicals, newsletters, and speeches for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Perform substantive editing on manuscripts and internal research content, helping strengthen structure, flow, and readability.
- Refine public-facing website content and help translate technical or specialized topics into accessible language.
- Work closely with authors and researchers to support editorial timelines, communication, and review cycles.
- Review bibliographies, tables, figures, and other publication elements for accuracy and style compliance.
- Check content converted to HTML and communicate revisions clearly to web production partners.
- Track editorial assignments and maintain accurate project records in a workflow system.
- Use available AI tools thoughtfully to support efficiency and improve editorial workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in English, journalism, economics, communications, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of relevant editorial experience.
- Strong background in copyediting, substantive editing, proofreading, and managing content through review processes.
- Experience working with technical or specialized material and applying Chicago Manual of Style or similar standards.
- Excellent writing, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to explain complex information in a clear, engaging, and audience-friendly way.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment with a minimum of four days onsite per week.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with AI research tools and prompt engineering techniques.
- Experience entering content into a web content management system.
- Experience reviewing HTML content and coordinating edits with web production teams.
- Interest in economics, community development, and financial services.
- A curious, resourceful mindset and a genuine enthusiasm for learning.
- Experience handling special publication elements such as indexes, tables, figures, and similar materials.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $22 - $52 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
