Job Summary
The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Utah has an immediate opening for a Study Coordinator to join our team of investigators, lab personnel, and team of GI study coordinators. The individual will coordinate technical and administrative details involved in clinical research studies and assist the Principal Investigator Amiko Uchida, MD in achieving study integrity and objectives through the successful implementation and completion of protocols and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Attends and participates in Investigator and staff meetings.
- Advises team regarding specific study assignments and timelines.
- Carrries out all patient-facing functions of clinical research which includes:
- Organization of patient recruitment/outreach,
- patient screening and enrollment,
- assessing and monitoring patient safety from research perspective,
- ensuring appropriate samples are collected on time and correctly.
- Explains and obtains informed consent, medical history, and demographics from patients; documents and maintains historical data, status reports, progress notes.
- Safety documentation: Reports and tracks adverse events (AE), documents all protocol deviations, and prepares summary reports when needed.
- Completes, audits, corrects case report forms. Maintains documents as required by FDA guidelines.
- Maintains contact with IRB and prepares and submits IRB documents.
- May perform functions required of the Clinical Research Assistant as necessary.
- Incumbents are responsible for coordinating the daily operations of their assigned research team, coordinating the orderly and safe flow of research projects, and maintaining adequate resources for the PI to accomplish their research objectives.

Qualifications
- EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
- Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels: Clinical Research Coordinator (Non-R.N.), I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) with up to 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.
- Clinical Research Coordinator (Non-R.N.), II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
