Research Computing Services Manager

About the role

This role will oversee non-desktop research computing operations that support scientific teams and enterprise research activity. The manager will guide infrastructure strategy, lead technical execution, and ensure reliable service delivery across servers, storage, databases, and backup environments. This position also partners closely with research leadership to advance planning, manage projects, and support a high-performing computing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage non-desktop research computing infrastructure across divisions
• Develop standards, policies, and procedures for enterprise servers, storage, and databases
• Support strategic planning for non-desktop computing infrastructure with research computing leadership
• Plan, schedule, and manage multiple IT projects requiring system resources
• Monitor project adherence to schedules and budgets, providing quality control oversight
• Plan and coordinate department moves, acquiring necessary tools and equipment
• Supervise Windows and Linux server administration, data storage, and backup

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, science, or a related field with ten years of IT experience, or Associate's degree with twelve years of IT experience, or Master's degree with seven years of IT experience
• Five years of managerial experience in an IT group within a scientific or corporate environment
• Experience deploying services in cloud-only or hybrid cloud environments
• Direct experience managing Windows or Linux servers, preferably in high-performance computing contexts
• Understanding of Windows and database administration

Pay

$110,000 – $130,000 annually
