About the role
The Institute for Defense Analyses Center for Computing Sciences (IDA/CCS) seeks to hire outstanding researchers to tackle critical computing challenges vital to national security. IDA/CCS specializes in high-performance computing, computer vulnerability research, cryptography, signal processing, and advanced data analysis techniques.
Responsibilities
- Develop and apply technical knowledge to address complex problems
- Contribute to the identification and articulation of promising research directions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement solutions
- Document research progress and share findings with the broader academic community
- Prioritize and manage multiple research projects simultaneously
- Communicate findings to sponsors and other stakeholders
- Lead initiatives such as SCAMPs, workshops, and sustained efforts
- Recruit and interview potential researchers
- Present findings at conferences and briefings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or Ph.D.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research
- Proven track record of publishing research findings
- Ability to present ideas and theories both orally and in writing
- Innovative thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in an unstructured environment and managing multiple projects
- Ability to interact with government or industry representatives
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Strong background in a relevant discipline
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Pay
A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $115,000-$265,000, with individual salary within this range being commensurate with experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
