About the role
We are looking for a talented stem cell biologist with an interest in the manipulation of avian embryonic stem cells. You will work closely with other lab team members to innovate on protocols for avian stem cell culture, genome editing, and reintroduction into embryos using cutting-edge technologies.
Responsibilities
- Culture avian embryonic stem cells, test novel cell culture conditions, transfect cells, sort monoclonal cell lines, screen and expand cells according to latest protocols and newly developed approaches
- Using a dissection microscope, collect avian blastodiscs from avian embryos and derive stem cell cultures
- Characterize and QC avian stem cell cultures
- Inject stem cells into avian blastodiscs
- Work with team members to assess efficiency of editing through NGS sequencing approaches
- Attend lab meetings, prepare reports, and presentations on the progress of projects
- Maintain excellent organizational skills and laboratory records
Requirements
- Experience with embryonic stem cell cultures
- Experience manipulating embryos under a microscope
- Experience in cell line derivation, culture, propagation, and transfection methodologies
- Experience in molecular biology (e.g., nucleic acid and protein extraction, gel electrophoresis)
- Experience with flow cytometry, immunostaining, cell microscopy
- Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as creative problem-solving skills
Qualifications
BA/BS/MA/MS in biological sciences, cell biology, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics, or any science-related field.
