Research Associate- Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep

About the role

Research Associate who participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory investigating lung aging, regeneration, and fibrosis in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep.

Participates in developing and implementing goals and objectives of studies; designs and executes complex laboratory experiments; performs mouse studies and executes molecular biological and biochemical experiments with independence.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct biochemical and molecular techniques such as cell culture, immunoblotting, DNA/RNA preparation, and immunocytochemistry.
  • Multitask several experiments simultaneously with efficient time management.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret research data.
  • Assist with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques.
  • Test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods; make recommendations for utilization.
  • Assist in establishment of controls, criteria, and research standards.
  • Perform critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken.
  • Assist in the preparation of research papers, manuscripts, conference presentations, and project reports.
  • Assist principal investigator in preparing proposals for new or renewal of extramural funding.
  • Coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff.
  • Oversee and coordinate periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in biochemical and molecular techniques (e.g., cell culture, immunoblotting, DNA/RNA preparation, immunocytochemistry).
