Research Associate - Neurology (Dr. Lin)

The Research Associate will support the Kevin Lin Lab (Neurology), which focuses on neurovascular coupling and brain-blood barrier integrity, with an emphasis on the role of protein arginine methyltransferases (PRMTs).

Responsibilities

  • Support senior researchers in general experiments, including animal drug treatments, cell culture, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Handle the animal colony and work with rodents (mice).
  • Collect, evaluate, and interpret research data.
  • Assist with custodial activities such as autoclaving and washing glassware.
  • Support project direction and outcomes by identifying opportunities to enhance, terminate, or re-direct research activities.
  • Maintain quality control checks and a safe environment in compliance with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
  • Provide results to investigators to support publication.
  • Direct and train lab staff to ensure efficient, timely, and high-quality results in compliance with all protocols, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation and writing of research reports, manuscripts, papers, and grant proposals for presentation and publication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Master's Degree preferred).
  • 3 years of related research experience (may substitute with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement).
  • Basic knowledge of scientific graphic software (e.g., GraphPad Prism) is preferred.
  • Pharm.D. background, with knowledge of pharmacology theory, pharmacokinetics, and principles of excipients.
  • Proficiency in Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work with rodents (mice); no previous experience necessary as training will be provided.
  • Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
